The Lines I Love: Errol's Good-bye to Olivia...

"Walking through life with you, mam, has been a very gracious thing."

-- Errol Flynn to Olivia de Havilland, as they said good-bye with their boots on, in THEY DIED WITH THEIR BOOTS ON (1941). Their eighth and final film. Their final scene. Their final lines.

I just discovered your blog and could not stop reading.
The title of the film you could not recall in the Sept. 17th post is WISH YOU WERE HERE, written and directed by David Leland.
This is one of my favorite films, a real gem in which the main character (while working as a waitress in a tea parlor) shouts "The cook pees in the teapots!". She is also fond of saying "Up yer bum" to everybody. Go rent it and view it sober, it's actually a poignant story when I am not laughing.
Be glad you live in NOT NY as many of the movie theaters here in NYC are riddled with bed bugs. It has reached epidemic proportions, gross huh?

Frl. Irene Palfy: Me too. That scene always makes me cry.

...

Artman: Well, weren't they married at the end of DODGE CITY? They were riding the covered wagon off into the sunset, or at least the wild West, instead of heading off for their honeymoon.

I've only seen it twice, though.

I too love THEY DIED WITH THEIR BOOTS ON. Watched it the other night, for the who-knows-how-many time, and I like it better every time I see it.

They're also one of my favorite couples. Not absolute favorite, but close.

...

David McGrieavy: Well, obviously you could stop reading, because you didn't read the entire post, Sex in the Tool Shed. If you had, you'd know I knew the movie was WISH YOU WERE HERE. Did you completely miss the picture of my thighs?

Also, I did view it sober. I freakin' watched the movie right before writing that post. Again, if you had actually read it...

I hate it when people say, Oh, I can't stop reading your blog...you didn't but read two seconds of it. Just enough to make me think you read it, so I'll go to your page, and follow you like the seven hundred something other people who follow you.

Clever trick, huh?

I've been doing this for five years, sonny. I know when people are patronizing me...and worst of all, not paying a bit of attention, then lying about it, just to generate more traffic to their own site.

Enjoy your bed-bugs. Where I'm from, we keep our cinemas clean.

I just saw "They Died with Their Boots On" for the very first time just yesterday! How's that for funny timing? I loved it, and that farewell scene made me cry. That has to be one of the best farewell lines ever.

Deb! That's perfect for funny timing! :)

I'm so glad to hear from you.

Yep, I always cry. And it's one of the best farewell lines ever; agreed. :)

This is a great idea! To include the most portable, memorable messages from the films you watch! ^_^ Would you be offended if I were to do this with book reviews on my page? I love quotes, and reading, and I haven't done any book reviews yet because I was not sure how I would format them, but this is perfect. =)
Lovely choices, by the way. This in particular is a very sweet and charming quote. =)
