Fun with Keywords! or, How to find Ginger's blog without really trying (vol. 2)

I haven't checked my statcounter much, since my return to blogging, or especially since I started this 'blogathon'.

-- I just want to write, and not worry how many people are reading.

But, it is fun to see how or why people find your blog; what they're searching for. What they want to know, and what you might can teach 'em! ;)

-- I like serving a purpose, see?

So here are some recent searches, along with my input.

Hope you enjoy it! :)

...

"doctormacro1 Jean Arthur"

Try Doctor Macro's site: Doctor Macro's High Quality Movie Scans.

"Gene Tierney Dana Andrews"

They did five films together.

-- You can read more about it HERE.

"James Cagney singing I don't want to play in your yard"

It's from THE OKLAHOMA KID, 1939.

"partner Humphrey Bogart"

Humphrey Bogart had a lot of famous partners. One is the aforementioned Cagney; wife Lauren Bacall; director John Huston.

I also count Billy Halop, but that's my own silliness. ;)

-- To read more about it, CLICK HERE.

"Who were Barbara Stanwyck's favorite actors?"

Hmm, I don't know...Good question!

I know Stanwyck loved William Holden.

And, maybe, Joel McCrea??

He and Stanwyck were oft-partners.

Perhaps a Stanwyck expert out there can enlighten us in the comments. :)

"Leo Gorcey quotes"

Well...quotes from his movies, or quotes from real life??

"Go slip in a lake!" is my favorite, from Gorcey-in-a-movie; as Spit, in DEAD END.

From Gorcey-in-real-life, how 'bout:
"I did not meet too many wonderful people in my twenty-five years in Hollywood. But then, they did not think I was so wonderful either."
Honest kid.

"photo archive for Errol Flynn"

I found a great one, one night! Several years ago...

Not sure if it's still around.

Try his official site, In Like Flynn, or the slightly less official, but more casual, Errol Flynn (dot) net..

"Billy Halop's movies after the Dead End Kids"

After the Dead End Kids last film at Warner Bros., ON DRESS PARADE, in 1939, Billy Halop continued with a similar series over at Universal, called Little Tough Guys. He also co-starred in TOM BROWN'S SCHOOL DAYS, and BLUES IN THE NIGHT.

Halop served in WWII.

After returning, he did THE GAS HOUSE KIDS, DANGEROUS YEARS, TOO LATE FOR TEARS, etc. And things pretty much went downhill from there.

Halop did a lot of TV; namely All in the Family.

Most of his film roles, later in life, were bit parts, or uncredited.

"James Cagney mistaken identity"

Um, Frankie Burke looked and sounded a hell of a lot like James Cagney!

(Perhaps that's what you meant...)

For ANGELS WITH DIRTY FACES, Warner Bros. hired Burke to play Cagney's younger self.

See: it's uncanny! A good actor, too.

"Fred Astaire handsome"

Yes, he is! :)

"Humphrey Bogart it's just you and me kid"

Ha. If you're talking about the quote from CASABLANCA, it's, "Here's looking at you, Kid."

"Can you have a touch of pneumonia?"

Apparently so! ;)

The way I understand it: 'a touch' of pneumonia is more traditionally known as 'the walking pneumonia'.

Hence, the person suffering from it still feels well enough to get up and walk around.

"Fred Astaire World Doll"

I have one!

-- You can see it HERE.

"How to respond to will you be my valentine?"

Just say yes!! :)

"Just You and Me, Kid"...wasn't that a George Burns/Brooke Shields movie?

I like this Dead End Kids/Bowery Boys craze you're on; keep at at it, kid!

It caan be pretty fun to look at "keywords"--many of which have nothing to do with the blog's actual content. Can you believe someone looking for porn ending up on RFBanjo? But it did happen a few months back--sheesh!

I believe Ms. Stanwyck was quite fond of Van Heflin -- they did three movies together.

And she did 3 films with Gary Cooper. I have never heard of anyone who disliked Mr. Cooper, either.

Frankie Burke was awesome in "Angels"! you know who else looks like Cagney is Spike Jones, but kind of a funhouse mirror Cagney!
i refer to him as: "Bizarro Cagney"

Kirk Douglas said in his book that Stanwyck was pretty cool towards him but very friendly with the crew.

i too have never read of any instance where anyone didnt like working with Gary Cooper but i have read that Tallulah Bankhead, Clara Bow and Patricia Neal really enjoyed it ;)

Mine tend to be a lot of misspelled stars names like Audry Hepburn or Audrey Hepbern, which is strange since I usually spell them correctly... This should really be a tag, I love seeing how people find blogs! :)

I love how somebody typed into google "Fred Astaire handsome"... I wonder what they were looking for?

in the portrait: barbara stanwyck documentary from the 60s (available on youtube and a hoot!) though she claims it is very hard to choose she names hank fonda and joel mccrea as her favorite leading men. in terms of actors in general, including those she hadn't worked with, i couldn't say. but those are her words. :]

Dex: I don't know. The only Brooke Shields movie I can think of, is BLUE LAGOON.

Oh, and that one where she plays a prostitute. PRETTY BABY, maybe?

I'm glad you're enjoying the Dead End Kid phase, Dex.

I'm enjoying it, too.

Thank you for the support! :)

...

John: And won't they be disappointed when all the woman they see is ol' Stevie Smith? ;)

...

Quirky Character: Thanks for the input! :)

It's nice to meet you.

And you're right; I bet 'Gary Cooper' is an extremely viable answer. And no, I don't think anyone disliked him -- not that I've ever read! :)

...

Artman: Yeah, the first time I saw ANGELS, I thought, How in the hell did they get such a perfect little Cagney?!

He's great!

Too bad HIS career didn't pan out similar...

I'll have to go google 'Spike Jones' -- I have no idea what he looks like.

Yeah, I've read or heard that about Stanwyck too; that she was extra-nice to everyone on set; never thought she was 'too good' for anyone.

Yeah, I've read or heard or that last bit -- about Bow, and co. -- too. ;)

...

Kate: I think it was a tag, at some point. Maybe started by Raquelle?? Or I saw it over there, and stole it...I don't remember. Probably says in the first 'volume' I did. (I re-tagged it earlier tonight, but I didn't bother to read it...)

Strange about the misspelled celebrities. Perhaps google fixes the spelling for them, but then when they hit your page, it still shows up, on your statcounter, as their original misspelled term.

As for Fred Astaire handsome: I don't know; I imagine they're looking for a good photo of him. Maybe one where he's not dancing. Like a headshot, or something. :)

...

Meredith: Thank you for your input! :)

Henry Fonda and Joel McCrea, from the mouth of Stanwyck herself? Works for me! And nice to know. I'm rather fond of both of 'em. :)

...

Millie: Glad you loved it. Good luck, and enjoy doing your own. :)

Sorry to seem like the technodoofus of all time, but how do you get this information? I'd love to see what brings people to my blogs...
