Classic Movie...Napkin Holder??

Last night, in an effort to cheer myself up, I went over to eBay for a minute, and did a few searches related to my current interests. And while looking through entertainment memorabilia, I came across this:

Tis a napkin holder, disguised as an advertisement for DEAD END!

Apparently from an old drive-in movie theater.

I've never heard of such a thing! People collecting film-related napkin holders...

I'm tempted to buy it, just to hide stuff in; like a little treasure chest. Maybe my beloved BIC ink pens would fit! ;)

Photo credit to the lady selling this thing. I think she has another one, too, for a different film; and I meant to do a new search, over the entire site, for 'movie napkin holders', to see how prevalent (or not) they exist on eBay, but forgot.

Will go over later, and get the link for this; and will do my further research then.

I would do it now, but I'm working on a piece I had wanted to finish before Midnight, and couldn't. And since I was gonna post about this napkin holder anyway, figured it would make for a good fill-in 'quickie', and therefore, not upset my blogathon, by causing an 'absence of posting', this next-to-last-day.

Oh, and I'm not quitting the blogathon, mind you; it was only declared for the month of February, anyway.

After that, Ginger Ingenue reserves the right to disappear completely. ;)

Not that I will...

UPDATE; an hour later: Here's the LINK. And never mind.

-- One of these days I'm gonna learn how to read...

It's not a movie advertisement napkin holder at all; it's a movie advertisement FOR a napkin holder! A little metal-backed sign you hook ON to a napkin holder.

Well, that's not as fun!

It probably wouldn't even work, unless you already owned a vintage/retro, diner-type napkin holder; then you could follow the included instructions from the days-of-old, hook it on, and pretend you're in a better time.

Meh.

This is what I get for posting it as a 'quickie', instead of waiting 'til I could research! ;)

If nothing else, I guess we all learned something...

"Yep. Ginger can't read."

Speaking of ebay & knowing you are a Bogart fan (as am I). I managed to pick up this 'Maltese Falcon' lp though not on ebay but at one of my favourite thrift stores for $1.99. Mint condition, sounded great & is going to look awesome framed on the wall. Glad to hear you sounding better!

I'm still a little confused about it - why would you hang a movie advert on a napkin holder?
I've just bought an empty 1953 carton of Bing Crosby Ice Cream, so I would say definitely put a bid down for this.

Who says you have to hook it on a napkin holder? I think it's cool! I say BID ON IT!! Cheers!

It seems like a pretty cool object--I think it would be worth a bid no matter what it's "real" use is. For what it's worth...

I'm assuming you've bought it by now.
